TRUE STORIES 1-10

Story 1 - So, What is Cyberlove?

My first article about the advantages and risks of dating in Cyberspace  was published in the Hungarian monthly "Internet Kalauz" in April 1999 and generated a lot of feedback which has lead to the following series of interviews where people told me of their own cyberlove experiences. One year later, Internet Love Story has become a regular column of the magazine, with a new article and related opinions published every month. The web page you are reading now is the online English version of my original magazine column.
Story 2 - Dangerous Games with Emotions
Beware! In Cyberspace people are often not what they seem! In this interview a man tells his odd story which should warn everyone who uses the Net for dating and flirting. "It's amazing how people fool themselves and others on the net. I enjoyed the story a lot, and was shocked by its unexpected ending" - noted one reader.

Story 3 - The Journey That Lead to My New Self
Several readers e-mailed me adding their comments to Victoria's story.  Little wonder, it happened within a span of a few weeks that she decided to leave her normal life behind and fly from Hungary to Canada to live with the man she had met on the Net. Read what kind of surprises await her on the other side of the ocean.

Story 4 - Seven Thousand Kilometers Here or There...
Do you think you can fall in love with someone you have never seen?  Gabor claims he is desperately  in love with the Malysian girl with whom he communicates intensively through the net. He does not even know how she looks because the picture the girl sent him was a group photo, and for fun she did not identify herself. Gabor brings up an issue which is often mentioned by those who have experienced cyberlove: appearance is of little importance, in cyber relationships more emphasis is based on communications and inner values.

Story 5 - From a Couple of Hours, a Couple of Days
How can you develop a virtual relationship into a real one?  What do you mean by virtual love affair? What is the secret of chat lines? Read Robi's letter to find out the answers.

Story 6 -  The Date Continued on the Net
... then in real life: walking on the Danube embankment, then up to the castle of Buda, then I took  her home... The main characters of this story have been living together for a few months and look very happy. "I really did not think I would find my partner on the Internet. I always thought this is a way for people who have no chance to establish a meaningful relationship. I don't think either Kriszti or I fit this category. However, it is life's unpredictability that leads one down such a path." - explains Csaba at the end of the interview.

Story 7 - He Became My Best Friend
This is a short letter from a young girl who was fortunate to find her best friend over the Internet.  Her story may contradict the opinions of those who say that chatting on the net is totally superficial and shallow.

Story 8 -  We Knew We Had No Chance
Are you unfaithful if you have an online romance? What do you think?  There must be many stories on this topic, this is just one example.

Story 9 - The Meeting of Gabby and David
"I have never before experienced what I felt when we first saw each other. I was so embarrassed that I could not say a word in English for a whole day. I needed pen and paper to communicate. It was completely different, because now I was facing someone totally strange by his appearance, who might have known more about me than my mother. I could not decide if I should hug him,  take his hand or just walk next to him"- it was such a special feeling. Of course things simply happened happened step by step, first we hugged, then we walked, then we took each other's hands" - tells Gabby, who attached a photo to her story.

Story 10 -  I Would Be Less If We Hadn't Met
The love affair of Timusz (Hungary) and Les (Canada) began in a virtual pub and went on IRL (in real life). The days of their one week meeting will surely be kept in both of their memories for the rest of their lives.
